Al is Vice President of Corporate Engagement at Bayer, where he is responsible for the planning, development and implementation of strategies that support the company’s corporate social responsibility goals in the United States for the Crop Science, Consumer Health and Pharmaceutical businesses. As President of Bayer Fund, the philanthropic arm of Bayer USA, Al has oversight and management for over $60 million in assets, and annual donations totaling more than $30 million.  Al works closely with senior leaders, key civic leaders, community organizations and stakeholders to further establish Bayer as an influential and impactful corporate citizen. 

Al has over 30 years of experience at Bayer and Monsanto, serving in many leadership roles supporting key businesses and corporate functions; including President Monsanto Fund, Vice President Community Relations, Assistant Controller, VP & General Auditor, VP of Commercial Finance, and Senior Director of Finance for the Animal Agriculture Business. 

Al is a native of St. Louis and has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Michigan State University. He received his M.B.A through the Executive Program from Washington University in St. Louis.  He is a graduate of FOCUS St. Louis’ Leadership Program and the Eisenhower Fellowship Program. 

Al has received numerous awards and recognitions, including the Corporate Leadership Award from St. Louis University, Outstanding African American Citizen of the Year by St. Louis Gateway Classic Sports Foundation, and Diversity Business Leader by the St. Louis Business Journal.  Most recently, Al was recognized in 2018 by Deluxe Magazine as a Power 100 Distinguished Awardee for his many achievements and demonstrated excellence in serving the community. 

Al currently serves on the boards of Gateway Arch Foundation, College Bound, Teach for America, and Philanthropy Missouri.
